This BIDI (Bi-directional) 2 Wavelength WDM (Wave Division Multiplexing) Fiber Optic Media Converter is designed to fit into the fast-growing and ever advancing optical fiber network deployment environment. This stand-alone converter adapts the emerging WDM technology and can expand copper-based networks up to 25km through a single optical fiber and provide bi-directional data. Users can now double their optical fiber bandwidth and upgrade their existing 100Base-TX or even 10Base-T network easily and more cost effectively.
Media converters is merely a device that can be plugged in and operated, but when connected to the network it must take account of certain factors. In accordance with the media converter port, the end face of the fiber patch cable should be the same. Ensure that wavelengths and speed rates are identical at both ends of the media converter. Be precise as to whether the converter supports full-duplex or half-duplex transmission and make sure to maintain the operating temperature range. Installation of a media converter should be done in a flat, secure location. Make sure that there's enough room for ventilation around the converter.
